As we approach the spring testing window, we want to share important information regarding our schedule and how you can support your child during this time. To ensure students have sufficient time to complete one testing unit per day for English Language Arts and Math, we have adjusted the daily period schedule. Eighth-grade students will also complete two Science testing units on each of their scheduled Science days. This structure is designed to reduce test fatigue while preserving valuable instructional time. Please review the testing schedule below:
Grade 8: May 6 & 7 – Science Grades
8, 7 & 6: May 12–16 – Math & English Language Arts
As part of our school-wide CARE expectations, we emphasize Accountability—taking responsibility for one’s actions and performance. We are asking families to partner with us by helping students take ownership of their success during testing. Here’s how you can help:
• Ensure your child arrives on time each day.
• Charge their Chromebook overnight and send them to school with the charging cord in their bag.
• Remind your child to leave all smart devices (phones, smartwatches, etc.) at home or in their locker, as these are prohibited in the testing environment by the State of New Jersey.
If a student is absent or arrives late, any missed sections will be rescheduled for a make-up session. We’ve been working diligently to prepare students, and your support at home is key. While standardized testing is just one measure of academic progress, we encourage students to approach it with confidence, focus, and a positive mindset.
